Tendering a replacement heating plant for Royal Mail
May 2024
What do you do at 5.30am when you get a call from one of your Nursing Home clients to advise that the whole of the basement is flooded? Get to site at 6am to find the Fire Brigade is pumping out the water, as the basement is inaccessible, oh and did we mention this is where the plant room for the whole site was based!
After discovering the cold water boosted storage tank had burst, once we were able to access the area we rallied the troops and stripped the basement bare.
We contacted a reliable temporary boiler hire company and within a short period of time had them back up and running again for heating and hot water.
Teamwork, communication and working in partnership enabled us to help our client and their vulnerable residents who found themselves in this dire situation in the middle of Winter. Thank you to Rapid Energy for their speedy resolution and working with us.

After months of utilising the temporary boiler plant, Coate Water Care were finally given the green light from the building insurers to proceed with the replacement plantroom, which was all beyond economical repair due to the flood damage.
A complete overall of the plantroom commenced which involved utilising the main bulk of the pipework but replacing all of the following:
2no Ideal gas fired boilers and flues
2no Andrews gas fired water heaters
3no new Grundfos circulation pumps
1no pressurisation unit
1no cold water storage tank complete with booster set
A complete re-wire of the plantroom electrics and further flood alarms were installed to prevent the issue escalating to that degree ever again
Down time was kept to a minimum on this project which meant minimal disruption to the home.
